Therapy with Ellen (she/her)

POPULATION: Adults 18+, trauma informed, substance use, OCD, anxiety, PTSD, depression

LOCATION: Telehealth only (MD)

TRAUMA FOCUS/SPECIALTY AREAS: Car accidents/natural disasters, Chronic illness or cancer (medical trauma), Experiencing or witnessing domestic violence, Substance use & addiction, Loved ones impacted by addiction, mental health disorders, or assuming a caretaking role, PTSD

TRAINING & THERAPEUTIC APPROACH: My approach to this work is a collaborative, humanistic one. I understand that all of my clients are the experts on themselves. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help people view events that have caused trauma in their lives through a different lens, and to regain control over their worldview. When we experience traumatic events, we sometimes form distorted beliefs or “stuck points” that are unhelpful. They can interfere with the way we interact with others and with the world around us. Working through these stuck points with a structured, proven style of therapy like CPT will give you the tools you need to gain perspective and change unhealthy thought patterns.

WE MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF… you are looking to challenge your perspective on events that have shaped your life, willing to “homework” outside of therapy, and are ready to do rewarding but challenging work.
